English & Maths

If you don’t have a Level 2 qualification or a GCSE grade 4 (grade C) in English or Maths, you can work towards a Functional Skills qualification at a level appropriate for you.

You will learn in a small group in weekly workshops, which last around two and a half hours. We teach in venues across North Tyneside, and these free courses are available both daytime and evenings.  The courses run for up to 30 weeks depending on your personal learning plan.

You can also study GCSE English or Maths which starts in September, but you can prepare for this by enrolling on a functional skills class which run throughout the summer. Our GCSE classes are delivered over 30 weeks, in the evening.

If you would like to brush up your English or Maths skills but don’t want to sit an exam, we have a range of opportunities including:

  • Personalised coaching through our Multiply or Word Up programmes, contact our team to find out more.
  • Creative writing classes, find out more here.
  • A range of Multiply courses including gardening, cookery and DIY, find out more here.
