Learners enrolling on this course must:

  • Have completed the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or the Level 2 Award in Helping Skills
  • Have attended the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory Advice and Guidance Session.

This qualification is for people interested in using Counselling Skills in their main work role or wider social life. It is also for those hoping to continue their studies to achieve accredited Counsellor status so that they can work professionally as a Counsellor.

  • Theoretical approaches in the use of Counselling skills
  • Working ethically and inclusively with Counselling skills
  • Using Counselling skills in a range of contexts
  • Counselling skills in personal development

Awarding Body: NCFE CACHE
Your online portfolio of work is the only assessment requirement of the course. Your tutor will guide you during this time. The course will be delivered in traditional classroom-based sessions. You will get to practice Skills at the end of sessions but this is only to provide material for your assignments. The course does not involve any evaluation of your Counselling Skills.

Attendance
It is a requirement that you attend 80% of the taught sessions to ensure you have the best chance of passing the course. Please think carefully before enrolling on this course if you have commitments that may interfere with your attendance.

What else do I need to know?

Evidence for the online portfolio is mainly short assignments and three sets of journals spread across the course but could also include case studies, notes on the observation of Counselling skills and records of professional discussions.

Learners will be set work to complete at home and must take responsibility for producing evidence for their portfolio.

This Level 3 qualification provides a route onto a Level 4/5 Degree in Counselling after which you will be able to work professionally as a fully qualified Counsellor.
