Diabetes Awareness Session


These workshops are community funded so open to residents of North Tyneside age 19+.

They are appropriate for those who wish to know a little more about this condition and the signs and symptoms as well as ways to manage it.

This informal session will focus on:

  • Types of diabetes and risk factors
  • Signs and symptoms
  • Hypoglycaemia – low blood sugar
  • Hyperglycaemia – high blood sugar
  • Tips for health eating and physical activity
  • Importance of health checks
  • Support services / charities.


There is no formal assessment for this awareness session.

Course length

2 hour workshop.



Those interested in working in care sector go on to do:

  • 1 week – Get into Care Course held at the YMCA in North Shields.
