DOP Online Safety (SOAP)
Description
We can arrange to come to your premises if your community group, hobby group, school or similar would benefit from this course.
You are not expected to bring pen and paper, but you may do so if you wish to take notes during the course.
This course is designed for parents, guardians and other childcare providers who want to gain an understanding of how to keep children safe in an online world. SOAP focuses on 3 key areas: Social media, Online gaming, and Apps & Payments.
Topics and themes include:
- Using tools such as Parental Controls to manage restrictions
- Using safer passwords / biometrics
- Managing payment information and in-game purchases
- Getting to grips with social media and best practices
- Understanding your digital footprint
You must be aged 19 or over to enrol on this course. No prior qualifications or experience is required.
Assessment
There are no formal assessments or exams, and no pass/fail outcome. Progress will be monitored and can be discussed with your tutor.

Attendance
We suggest attending at least 80% of the course to get the most benefit.
The Digital Outreach Project is made up of non-accredited courses; we also offer a range of digital and IT-based qualifications. Please speak to your tutor who will be able to advise you on what courses would best suit your needs.
