Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector
Description
You should be at least 19 years old.
You will need a DBS clearance.
You must have attended an Information, Advice and Guidance session.
The Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling you to gain the skills and knowledge needed to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 0 to 7 years.
Upon achievement of this qualification, it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as an Early Years Educator. Placements or employment are required for achievement of this qualification. A minimum of 350 placement hours in an Early Years setting is required to gain the skills element. You will need to be working or volunteering with children aged 0-5 years.
The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 3 approved criteria for a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner in the Workforce.
Course Length
15-18 months
There will be monthly taught sessions where you will be provided with the underpinning knowledge. You will receive regular individual tutorials with your tutor. You also need to volunteer in an Early Years Setting for 1-2 days every week if not employed.
Attendance
Minimum of 80% attendance is required.
Assessment
You will complete an e-portfolio of evidence which will hold all assessments completed. You will be assessed using a variety of methods, such as:
- Assignments
- Observations of you working with children
- Reflective accounts
- Professional discussion You will also be required to complete a Longitudinal Study.
Please note that you will need access to a computer, iPad, or tablet to complete your tasks in your own time.
What else do I need to know?
There are 10 mandatory units that will need to be successfully completed.
Learners need to hold a suitable Level 2 English qualification to count within the staff:child ratios at Level 3 in the workplace. By the time you complete the L3 Diploma this English qualification will be required. We can sign post you for an English assessment and provide classes, as you will need to do this qualification alongside the Level 3 EYE Diploma as a course requirement.
