Early Years Educator Level 3 Diploma

Description

You should be at least 16 years old.

You will need a DBS clearance.

You must have attended an Information, Advice and Guidance session.

The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling you to gain the skills needed to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 0 to 7 years.

Upon achievement of this qualification, it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as an Early Years Educator. Placements or employment are required for achievement of this qualification. A minimum of 350 placement hours in an Early Years setting is required. You will need to be working or volunteering with children aged 0-5 years.

The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 3 approved criteria for a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner in the Workforce.

Course Length
Approximately 2 Years

There will be monthly taught sessions where you will be provided with the underpinning knowledge. You will receive regular individual tutorials with your tutor.

You also need to volunteer in an Early Years Setting for a minimum of 1 day every week.

Attendance
Minimum of 80% attendance is required.

Assessment

You will complete an e-portfolio of evidence which will hold all assessments completed. You will be assessed using a variety of methods, such as:

  • Assignments
  • Observations of you working with children
  • Reflective accounts
  • Professional discussion

You will also be required to complete a Longitudinal Study.

Please note that you will need access to a computer, iPad, or tablet to complete your tasks.

What else do I need to know?

There are 23 mandatory units that will need to be completed, including the Longitudinal Study.

GCSE English and Maths A-C grades are not an entry requirement; however the Early Years Workforce does require you to hold either GCSE A-C grades (or equivalent) in English and Maths or Functional Skills for English and Maths at Level 2 to count in the settings ratios. By the time you complete the L3 Diploma course these English and maths qualifications will be required. We can sign post you for an English and Maths assessment and provide classes, as you will need to do these qualifications alongside the Level 3 Diploma EYE as a course requirement.
