This course is for those who already have considerable knowledge of the language (approximately equal to at least 3-4 years of learning). Although this course does not lead to a qualification, the Level will be roughly equivalent to post GCSE. The emphasis will be on speaking and using the language with some grammar.
You will improve your fluency with a variety of activities such as taking part in discussions, completing listening exercises, learning grammar points and, reading and understanding texts. The course will look at various aspects of French life and society and learners will be welcome to suggest topics to cover which interest them particularly.
Activities and work will be assessed by your tutor.
The sessions provide a fun, interesting and relaxed learning environment, where you will be encouraged to participate. During the sessions, many of the activities require you to work in pairs and small groups.
The course will be loosely based on a textbook, details of which will be given out at the start of the course. You are asked to bring pens and paper to each session. A ring binder would also be useful so that you can build up a portfolio of work covered and use it for reference.
Doing extra work at home will help to strengthen your language skills. Homework will be issued during the course but is recommended rather than compulsory.
You may wish to try a different language such as German or Spanish.
