Health & Safety in a Construction Environment (CSCS Card)
To study this course, you must have basic communication skills, are able to read and write English at Entry Level 3 and basic IT skills. In order to pass this course, you will be required to build a file of evidence that involves writing with classroom-based assessments together with an online final test.
No formal prior qualifications are required.

On this course you will undertake two qualifications in Employability Skills and Health and Safety in a Construction Environments, these will prepare you to sit the Construction Skill Certificate Scheme (CSCS) card test.
Employability: you will learn about planning for progression, investigating rights and responsibilities at work and work awareness. You will also receive guidance and support to create or update CVs, covering letters and completing job applications.
Health & Safety: you will develop knowledge in Health & Safety and environmental awareness by completing a portfolio of evidence and sit an online end test. This will prepare you to complete a test at one of the registered test centres. When you pass this, you can apply for a CSCS card.
Awarding Body: NOCN, CITB, City and Guilds
Employability: your skills will be assessed throughout the course and you will complete an evidence-based portfolio.
You will be taught and assessed during the course working towards the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment and will sit an online test to complete the course. You will be given the opportunity to sit online mock tests in preparation for a multiple-choice online test which is based at an external centre. You will be booked in for the test at the earliest opportunity after the completion of the course.
The course will be carried out over 2 weeks. You will attend 3 days per week to a maximum of 21 hours per week.
You are expected to arrive promptly and attend every session for the full 2 weeks of the course. A copy of the register is sent to your JCP advisor to confirm your attendance.
You could progress into work within the construction industry or onto one of our trade specific construction courses.
