Horticulture Level 1
To study this course, you must have basic communication skills although there are no formal prior qualifications required. You will benefit from having some experience of working in the garden and using basic tools and equipment.
You will need to attend an interview to determine your suitability for the course.

On this course you will undertake Level 1 qualification in Practical Horticulture Skills. You will be instructed in the safe use of gardening equipment and the personal protective equipment required for each piece
Working in a practical gardening environment your skills will be assessed throughout the course through products of work, questioning and tutor observations. You will be expected to complete an evidence-based portfolio for the qualification. This will require some classroom based work where you will work to build a file of evidence to prove competency.
Health and Safety is paramount in this course and you will learn how to use basic equipmentand the appropriate personal protective equipment required for each.
The course will be delivered over 10 weeks and learners will attend 2 days per week (Monday and Tuesday).
You could progress onto a trade-specific course at Level 2.
