ICT Skills for Work and Business Level 2 – Long Course


This is a Level 2 course aimed at learners who have successfully completed the Certificate in IT User Skills Level 1 (CLAiT) or Level 2 Functional Skills. A good working knowledge of Word plus at least two other Microsoft Office programs is essential. You will be assessed in the first week to make sure the course is right for you.

Please note that this course uses Windows 10 Operating System and Microsoft Office 2019.

To gain the CLAiT Plus certificate you will need to achieve at least 16 credits, including the mandatory Improving Productivity unit (4 credits), plus any combination of optional units (four credits each), chosen from:

• Integrated Document Production (Word Processing)

• Spreadsheets

• Databases

• Presentation Software (PowerPoint)

• Desktop Publishing (using Publisher)

CLAiT Plus allows you to concentrate on the subjects that you require, so creating a customised IT qualification that suits your needs or those of your employer. You will work at your own pace from resources provided at the centre, but the full qualification must be completed within around 30 weeks.

At the end of each unit a sample test will be administered, and feedback given, before you take the live assignment.

CLAiT Plus will really build on your existing knowledge and equip you with many advanced ICT skills required to meet the demands of the modern office-based workplace. You will gain a nationally recognised qualification that demonstrates your commitment to continued personal

CLAiT Plus Level 2 is equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 to 9 (C to A*), and is a valuable addition to your CV. This not only increases your general knowledge, but also increases your chances of securing a job, or improving your employability, allowing you to develop your career and improve your chance of progressing in the workplace to reach your goals.

It is vital that you undertake practical work every week in order to successfully progress through this course.

Awarding Body: OCR
OCR assignments are used to assess you for the IT qualification and are completed during your normal class time. An assessment will take place upon completion of each unit. You will be allowed to refer to your notes and help sheets throughout the assessment.

Course Length
The course length is 17 or 30 weeks depending on the level of your ability and chosen course.

CLAiT will prepare you for progression to a Level 2 course such as Functional Skills ICT Level 2 or CLAiT Plus.
