Common Health Conditions
Description
This qualification is designed for learners looking to start work in, or are already working in, health and social care, who would like an understanding of common health conditions and their effects on individuals.
Please note that whilst the course is free, there is a £50 withdrawal fee if you choose to withdraw from the course.
This qualification aims to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of:
- Various common health conditions
- Monitoring the health of individuals affected by health conditions
The purpose of this qualification is to give learners currently working in (or intending to work in) adult health and social care an awareness of a range of common health conditions. Learners may then progress to additional qualifications to gain a more in-depth understanding of specific health conditions.
Assessment Awarding Body: NCFE
This is an online course. You will receive your own study pack, alongside a specialist tutor who will guide you through your studies. Your study pack includes a set of high-quality knowledge workbooks that are designed to help you learn independently through a range of reflective activities. You will also receive an online assessment account (e-assessor) where you will document your evidence.
To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Common Health Conditions, learners must achieve a minimum of 15 credits.
- Understand how to contribute to monitor the health of individuals affected by health conditions (2 credits)
- Introductory awareness of sensory loss (2 credits)
- Stroke awareness (3 credits)
- Dementia awareness (2 credits)
- Arthritis awareness (3 credits)
- Parkinson’s awareness (3 credits)

Course Length
9 weeks (although you can complete more quickly if you wish)
Attendance
This course is part of our online learning offer, and you will primarily study at home. Regular drop-in workshops are available, facilitated by a specialist tutor. We encourage attendance at the drop-in sessions for support, reassurance and knowledge building.
You will receive submission dates for all units.
