End of Life Care

This qualification is designed for a wide range of learners who wish to gain an understanding of end-of-life care. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification in a health or social care related area.

Please note whilst the course is free, there is a £50 withdrawal fee if you choose to leave or are withdrawn from the course without completion.

This qualification is designed for a wide range of learners who wish to gain an understanding of end-of-life care.

This qualification aims to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of:

  • How to work in end-of-life care
  • The support needed to manage pain and discomfort
  • How dementia impacts end-of-life care
  • The role of the care worker in time of death
  • The loss and grief process

Awarding Body: NCFE
This is an online course. You will receive your own study pack, alongside a specialist tutor who will guide you through your studies. Your study pack includes a set of high-quality knowledge workbooks that are designed to help you learn independently through a range of reflective activities. You will also receive an online assessment account (e-assessor) where you will document your evidence.

This qualification consists of 6 mandatory units:

  • Unit 01: Understand how to work in end-of-life care
  • Unit 02: Care planning in end-of-life care
  • Unit 03: Understand how to provide support to manage pain and discomfort
  • Unit 04: End-of-life care and dementia
  • Unit 05: Understanding the role of the care worker in time of death
  • Unit 06: Understand loss and grief in end-of-life care.

Knowledge-based assessment to be completed via e-portfolio system.

Course Length
10 weeks (although you can complete more quickly if you wish)

Attendance

This course is part of our online learning offer, and you will primarily study at home. Regular drop-in workshops are available, facilitated by a specialist tutor. We encourage attendance at the drop-in sessions for support, reassurance and knowledge building.

You will receive submission dates for all units.

If you require additional support, regular tutorials can be arranged.
