Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care

The Level 2 Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care is for anyone interested in a career in the social care sector.
Please note that whilst the course is free, there is a £50 withdrawal fee if you choose to withdraw from the course.
A good standard of literacy is required to complete this course at Level 2, and access to the internet and a computer is also required.
This course is an ideal taster for those who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.
The qualification covers the areas of communication, equality, diversity and inclusion, personal development, role of the social care worker, handling information, health and safety, safeguarding, duty of care and person-centred approaches.
Awarding Body: NCFE
This is an online course. You will receive your own study pack, alongside a specialist tutor who will guide you through your studies. Your study pack includes a set of high-quality knowledge workbooks that are designed to help you learn independently through a range of reflective activities. You will also receive an online assessment account (e-assessor) where you will document your evidence.
To achieve the L2 Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, you must complete all of the 9 mandatory units:
- Unit 01: Understand the role of the social care worker.
- Unit 02: Understand principles of personal development in adult social care settings.
- Unit 03: Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care.
- Unit 04: Understand principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings.
- Unit 05: Understand principles of communication in adult social care settings.
- Unit 06: Understand principles of safeguarding in adult social care settings.
- Unit 07: Introduction to duty of care in health and social care.
- Unit 08: Understand how to handle information in social care settings.
- Unit 09: Understand health and safety in health in social care settings.
Knowledge-based assessment to be completed via e-portfolio system.
Course Length
12 weeks (although you can complete more quickly if you wish)
Attendance
This course is part of our online learning offer, and you will primarily study at home. Regular drop-in workshops are available, facilitated by a specialist tutor. We encourage attendance at the drop-in sessions for support, reassurance and knowledge building.
You will receive submission dates for all units.
If you require additional support, regular tutorials can be arranged.
