Introducing Caring for Children and Young People

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.

Please note whilst the course is free, there is a £50 withdrawal fee if you leave or are withdrawn from the course without completion.

The purpose of this qualification is to increase learners’ knowledge and awareness of caring for children and young people.

Learners will explore how children’s development can be influenced by factors such as nutrition and gain an understanding of the various safeguarding responsibilities of those who care for children and young people. Learners will also discover the importance of activities, play and interaction and learn how to contribute positively to the development of children and young people at different stages.

Awarding Body: NCFE
This is an online course. You will receive your own study pack, alongside a specialist tutor who will guide you through your studies. Your study pack includes a set of high-quality knowledge workbooks that are designed to help you learn independently through a range of reflective activities. You will also receive an online assessment account (e-assessor) where you will document your evidence.

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Introducing Caring for Children and Young People, learners are required to successfully complete 7 mandatory units:

  • Unit 01: Young children’s development
  • Unit 02: Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
  • Unit 03: Respecting and valuing children
  • Unit 04: Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
  • Unit 05: Importance of play for early learning
  • Unit 06: The value of play to young children
  • Unit 07: Sharing learning experiences with children

Knowledge-based assessment to be completed via e-portfolio system.

Course Length
14 Weeks (although you can complete more quickly if you wish)

Attendance

This course is part of our online learning offer, and you will primarily study at home. Regular drop-in workshops are available, facilitated by a specialist tutor. We encourage attendance at the drop-in sessions for support, reassurance and knowledge building.

You will receive submission dates for all units.

If you require additional support, regular tutorials can be arranged.
