Level 3 Coding Practices

Description

Level 3 Certificate in Coding Practices is available as a progression opportunity.  This course is available on our distance learning offer.  This is completed online, so learners need access to a computer, laptop or tablet.  The course is open to learners 19+.

This qualification aims to increase your knowledge, skills and understanding of coding. The qualification will help you to understand:

  • The stages of the software development lifecycle, software methodologies and how working as a team contributes to effective software delivery
  • The purpose and use of coding standards, coding principles and practices and coding design process
  • Writing and debugging interpreted and compiled code distinguishing the different coding solutions
  • Fixing bugs using appropriate techniques and reflect on how the bug could have been prevented
  • Deployment, configuration management and version control systems

Awarding Body: NCFE

Assessment is knowledge-based only, and you will complete online learning and answer a series of questions for each unit of the qualification. To achieve this qualification, you will need to complete 5 mandatory units:

  • Unit 1: Coding requirements and planning
  • Unit 2: Understand coding design unit
  • Unit 3: Implementation of coding unit
  • Unit 4: Software testing unit
  • Unit 5: Understand deployment, maintenance and configuration management

This is an online learning course.  You will receive access to an online portfolio (e-assessor) where you will find learning materials, assessment tasks and tutor feedback. You will also be allocated a specialist tutor who will guide you through your studies and provide regular feedback.

Course length:

19 weeks (although you can complete more quickly if you wish)

Attendance:

This course is part of our online learning offer, and you will primarily study at home. Regular drop-in workshops are available, facilitated by a specialist tutor. We encourage attendance at the drop-in sessions for support, reassurance and knowledge building.

You will receive submission dates for all units.

If you require additional support, regular tutorials can be arranged.

Achievement of this qualification will help support progression into a variety of job roles and occupational areas within the digital sector. On completing the Level 3 in Coding Practices you may wish to progress onto further online learning courses. These courses give you an opportunity to specialise in other areas including:
